If you are one of the 45,000 social workers who first registered with us in late 2004 or early 2005 you will soon have to renew your registration.
If you are due to renew, you will receive a form in the next few months; you must send this back as soon as possible. If we do not receive your form by the deadline, we will need to take steps to remove you from the register straight away. You will no longer be able to practise and your employer will be informed of this.
We have listened to your feedback from the last time you renewed and have made the form shorter and easier to fill in. You no longer need to send us your full record of your post-registration training and learning (PRTL). However, it is essential that you keep this safe as we will be contacting a number of people to request these for checking. You can log your PRTL quickly and conveniently on MyGSCC, your online registration tool.
We will be writing to you soon with more information, which means it is vital that we have your up-to-date contact details. So if you’ve moved house, changed your job or made any other changes to your personal details and have not already informed us, please do so via MyGSCC; by emailing changeofcircumstances@gscc.org.uk; or filling out the change of circumstance form available on our website: www.gscc.org.uk.
It is a legal requirement to be registered with the GSCC, and renewing your registration sends a message to service users and other professionals that you work to the highest possible standards. By renewing, you also demonstrate you have continued to develop your skills and knowledge in order to provide people with the best possible service.
