Inspection reports

Later this month, we will start to publish the outcomes of the work we do to regulate social work degree courses. The following information will be available at www.gscc.org.uk

Annual monitoring reports: Universities complete a report each year, rating themselves against the national standards. We assess and clarify the information and highlight any concerns we have and ask universities to address these.

Inspection reports: Where we are not confident that concerns raised by us will be dealt with, we carry out a preliminary inspection to find out more. If we are still not satisfied, we progress to a full inspection. The purpose of this is to assess whether the courses should still be approved by us or not. Both of these reports will be published once our investigation has concluded.

Re-approval reports: Every five years we assess whether social work degree courses should still be approved by the GSCC. These reports will be published in the summer.

We believe that the more information a student has about a course, the better able they will be to make a choice about whether it is somewhere they want to study. We also hope that this increased scrutiny will help to drive up standards.
