The GSCC welcomes five new Council members to the organisation, some of whom started on 1st September.
Former NMC President Jill Crawford and John Tate, Director of Legal Services at the Independent Police Complaints Commission, have been appointed as lay (non-social care background) members.
Robin Currie, former CEO of the Personal Service Society, and Gordon Ratcliffe, who is a Divisional Director of Services at the NSPCC, will be non-lay members. David Plank, who worked at a number of London boroughs and sits on committees at the General Chiropractic Council (GCC) and the General Optical Council (GOC), starts on 1 May 2010.
David and Robin, who are both GSCC committee members, will resign from their committee posts to take up the roles.
The new Council members replace Bill McClimont and Harry Marsh whose terms of office end on 31 August, John Knight who recently resigned, Michael Leadbetter who sadly passed away earlier this year and Melanie Henwood whose term of office ends on 30 April 2010.
